This year, OFS’ delegation to the huge China International Optoelectronic Exposition in Shenzhen, China, included: our President, Dr. Tim Murray; our Far East Account Executive Dr. Lin Huang; our Single-mode Product Manager, Jim Moore; and one of our fiber preform Engineers, Nick Jiang. These ladies and gentlemen joined the staff of our distributor in China, Seasun, to showcase several of our product lines.
The news about Windpower taking off in China is spot on. Our focused fiber solutions for windpower were highlights of our display, with features like high tensile strength, good fatigue resistance, flexibility, and excellent resistance to moisture and chemicals. OFS’ solutions for windpower range from color-coded fibers to multi-stranded and reinforced cables, to the crimp-and-cleave termination kits that make our solutions so quick and effective in the field.
Erbium-doped fiber, a big seller in China for quite some time now, was displayed alongside our Dispersion Compensating Modules, and the popular return of our Tunable Dispersion Compensators. With China’s growth in the telecommunications segment, OFS couplers are an important component of any reliable telecom system, and we highlighted our offerings in that arena— ClearLite® 980-16 single-mode fibers optimized for coupler applications, our TruePhase® line of polarization-maintaining fibers, as well as single-mode fibers in the 1310 wavelength and with reduced cladding sizes. We shared the focused fiber solutions for medicine made possible with our monitored and controlled low-bioburden facility--biocompatible and sterilizable products with USFDA and USP Class VI certification.
To China’s industrial sector, we offered a family of HCS fiber and cable products and jumpers renowned worldwide for their unusual strength and ease of termination. A full complement of multimode products for equipping the factory floor included our latest Launch Fibers and 62.5 HCS® fibers.
It was a great show, and now that our representatives are back stateside, we have some photos to share.
