OFS Specialty Photonics is constantly changing to offer the best customer service and support. Here are some recent examples.
Medical Sales Team
A new medical sales team is now in place, providing highly focused support to the growing medical device industry. The team members include: Mick Speciale (Medical Market Manager), Jonathan Loft (Medical Account Manager), Paul Toller (Technical Sales Engineer - Medical) and Kathy DeVaux (Customer Service Representative - Medical). This team has over 60 combined years of fiber optic experience, including a majority of that time working with medical customers. According to John Earnhardt, Senior Sales Manager, "OFS recognizes the opportunities for expanded use of fiber optics in medical devices. We have established an outstanding customer support team to address the specific needs of medical customers. In addition, we have a strong product portfolio and technical capabilities to meet a wide range of fiber optic applications in medical laser delivery, imaging, sensing, and datacom."
Industrial Assembly Supervisor
Increased opportunities in assembly operations have led to addition of staff and a reorganization of responsibilities. Jonathan Li, a nine-year veteran of OFS Specialty Photonics, has been named Industrial Assembly Supervisor. Guido Ronghi will continue to supervise medical and metalized pigtail assembly operations. Both report to Mike Winslow, Assembly Operations and Engineering Manager.
According to Li, much of his work involves assemblies with relatively low volumes, but that require considerable attention. "Customers come to us for our expertise in specialty fiber and we work closely with them to develop what they need. The ultimate goal is to transition to higher volumes, but first we want to deploy all of our resources to get it just right," he explained.
New in Customer Service
 Sairey O'Neil has rejoined the OFS Specialty Photonics team as Customer Service Representative for all international customers and distributors. "I'm the one they contact for information on lead times, pricing, samples – anything they need from us," she explains. Prior to the birth of her son, Sairey was a Customer Service Representative in medical and gaming. Welcome back.

OFS Explores New Applications for Higher-Order Mode Fiber Laser Technology
AVON, Conn. (June 18, 2007) – OFS Specialty Photonics is inviting collaborators to develop new applications that are based on two breakthroughs from its laboratories in higher-order mode (HOM) technology. OFS Laboratories has pioneered development of dispersion control technologies leading to ultra-fast pulse generation. The other is ultra-large mode area fibers.

Patent Granted
on New Erbium-Doped Fiber
A patent has recently been granted to Fitel USA Corp., a parent company of OFS, for an erbium-doped fiber that is optimized for high-power wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) applications.
