FiberFest, CLEO, and Photonics North
Trade show activity has not let up after OFC. We kept right on rolling with two appearances at FiberFest. East Coast companies could visit us at either the Boston show on May 1 or a week later at the Mid-Atlantic show in Somerset, New Jersey. CLEO was on the heels of FiberFest two weeks later in Long Beach, California. Then our traveling booth headed north and crossed the border to Quebec City, Canada, for Photonics North on June 5. Focused Fiber Solutions was the theme, and we highlighted the many different fibers and cables we offer to meet the specialty needs of applications in Sensing, Medical, and Fiber Lasers.
The age-old question at every show, of course, is What’s New? By CLEO, we had a pretty big answer: breakthrough Mode Transformer Technology from our Labs. In the press announcement, released at CLEO, Dr. David DiGiovanni, President of OFS Laboratories explained the basis of the breakthrough: "As important a technology as Large Mode Area fiber is for high power lasers, the fact is that unless you have a good transition from Gaussian to non-Gaussian modes and back again, you cannot get consistent results from your gain module. Addition of new proprietary mode transformer technology to the LMA gain module creates a unit that maximizes efficiency of the LMA fiber and provides consistent, predictable signal output with high beam quality." We expect to have a product based on this technology commercially available by the first quarter of next year. To be placed on a priority mailing list to receive more information as soon as this product
becomes available, please contact us.
Next stop: CIOE in Shenzhen, China, September 6, in cooperation with our China distributor, Seasun.
