OFS Energy

Improving safety and optimizing yield are critically important for oil & gas well operations. Optical fibers are commonly used as sensors in Distributed Temperature Sensing (DTS) systems. Supplying optical fibers to survive the extreme temperature, pressure and chemical environments of down hole applications is a core competence of OFS.

OFS offers graded index GeoFibers™ for well installations. The GeoFiber family is designed for high temperature use, relying on PYROCOAT® polyimide coating plus the addition of an engineered carbon barrier for conditions where hydrogen ingression is a concern. For moderate temperature environments OFS offers fiber with a coating system combining silica and high temperature acrylate for easy handling.

Building on expertise in the oil & gas arena, OFS now offers GeoSil™. This family of fibers include step-index multimode and singlemode with pure silica core structures for hydrogen rich environments. These advanced fibers may include PYROCOAT for high temperature and carbon layering to combat hydrogen ingression. GeoFibers are attenuation optimized for operation in the Raman wavelength band and ideal for DTS applications.

What should I order?

Choose from our portfolio of fibers for geophysical applications. Note the differences between GeoSil pure silica core and GeoFiber graded-index designs. We also offer singlemode fibers for emerging DTS applications. Select the best fit for your application or feel free to Contact us for more options.
