| INTERNATIONAL TRADE COMPLIANCE
OFS Specialty Photonics Division (Specialty) is a global leader in the development, manufacture and commercialization of specialty optical fibers. As such, Specialty conducts business within the scope of many United States trade regulations both within the U.S. and in every country where we transact business. We take compliance with United States export laws and regulations very seriously. At the same time, we welcome our international customers, appreciate your business, and do everything possible to make sure that we efficiently process your orders without compromising the security of the United States. We ask for your patience, as necessary global trade compliance procedures sometimes increase lead times, especially for new orders shipped overseas.
Anti-boycott: U.S. law prohibits U.S. companies and their affiliates from participating in boycott requests (for example, the Arab League boycott of Israeli goods and services). U.S. law also requires that U.S. companies report such boycott requests to the government. It is our policy to not engage in inquiries or business transactions involving any boycotts not sanctioned by the U.S. and to adhere to the reporting policies of the U.S. This policy is applicable to all employees, account executives, manufacturer’s representatives and international distributors.
Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA): U.S. law prohibits U.S.
companies and affiliates, their employees,
account executives,
manufacturer’s representatives, distributors and anyone authorized to negotiate business on a U.S. company’s behalf, from initiating or receiving bribes from foreign governments, entities acting on behalf of a government agency or political officials. It is Specialty's policy to not engage in any kind of bribery activity.
U.S. Imports: The U.S. Customs Border Patrol has jurisdiction over all imports into the U.S. While quota regulations do not necessarily apply to Specialty components procured internationally, there are many regulations that we must abide by. These regulations include, but are not limited to, proper classifications, descriptions, value and country of origin. Specialty maintains a program which ensures U.S. Customs Border Patrol compliance. At this time, Specialty is not C-TPAT certified.
Exports: International shipments are an integral part of Specialty's daily business activities. It is our intention to be compliant to all U.S. export control laws and regulations. The regulations administered by the U.S. Dept. of Commerce, Bureau of Industry & Security, U.S. Dept. of State and U.S. Department of Treasury are understood by employees, account executives, manufacturer’s representatives and international distributors. If there is any doubt of non-compliance, the request/transaction is terminated and reported to the proper authorities. Specialty maintains various programs, including, but not limited to an Export Management System to ensure compliance to all U.S. export control laws
and regulations.
