About Specialty Photonics Division
OFS Specialty Photonics Division is the industry leader in optical fiber design or modification for highly customized applications. It develops focused fiber solutions – the right fibers, cables, and other specialty optical fiber products – to meet the needs of established and growing industries.
OFS Specialty Photonics supplies advanced optical fibers, including specialty multimode, specialty single-mode, rare-earth doped, polarization-maintaining and other nonstandard fibers. It also manufactures specialty cables and connectors, and other specialty products, such as high-power laser components.
Products
Optical fiber. OFS Specialty Photonics offers a broad range of standard and custom specialty optical fibers. Specialty multimode fibers include HCS® and PYROCOAT® brand technologies. Also, specialty ClearLite® single-mode fibers, some of which incorporate our hermetic carbon coating expertise, TruePhase® polarization maintaining fibers, Erbium-doped fibers, and cladding pumped and large mode area fibers doped with various rare earth elements, such as Erbium, Ytterbium and Erbium/Ytterbium.
Cable. Specialty cables, such as avionic and military cables, and indoor and outdoor industrial HCS cables are manufactured here. These cables combine specialty optical fiber with cabling constructions that make installation or deployment easier and/or protect the fibers for long-term use in harsh environments.
Specialty products. OFS is a leader in high-power laser products, such as power combiners, cladding pumped and large mode area (LMA) fibers, cladding pumped fiber gain modules and cladding pumped fiber lasers (CPFLs).
We offer dispersion slope compensating modules (DSCM) and Dispersion Compensating Raman Amplifiers (DCRA) to meet unique customer specifications.
Other specialty products include connectorized assemblies, connectors, fiber Bragg gratings, termination kits and metallized pigtails.
Markets
OFS Specialty Photonics is organized to meet specific industry needs and customer challenges. Major markets include telecommunications, industrial, military and aerospace, transportation, medical and geophysical. We also specialize in fibers for cross-industry applications, such as navigation, high-power delivery and sensing.
